The first game of the CBL championship was an ESPN Instant classic. Scituate and Braintree battled for 9 scoreless innings before the decisive 10th inning. Braintree scored two runs in the top of the 10th on two bases loaded walks. Scituate responded in the bottom of the 10th with a run on ground out and had runners at 1st and 2nd when 3rd baseman Jackson Morse made a great play on a ground ball squibber to win the game for Braintree. Chris Kleuber pitched 5 scoreless inninngs for Braintree and Tim Troup finished the job for the win. Scituate had a big chance in the 9th when Jack Darcy got a 1 out triple. Tim Troup then made the defensive play of the game when he stopped a hard hit ground ball up the middle that would have won the game for Scituate. Luke Linnehan pitched a stellar 6 plus innings for Scituate.

The finals will be a best two out of three series. Game 2 will be at Braintree High School on Thursday. First pitch will be at 8 pm. The third game if necessary will be held on Sunday, July 27th at Scituate
